For the second consecutive year, a community Harmony Day concert and presentation was hosted in Mount Gambier at City Hall.
A variety of presentations, including dance, poetry and music, were embraced by a crowd of more than 400 people. Harmony Day has become so popular that there was standing room only.
Harmony Day is a great event for bringing people together to understand the importance of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse community’s providing an opportunity to showcase local talent.
Burmese, Congolese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Afghani and Vietnamese were just some of the nationalities represented at the festivities.
For some of the more recent migrants, many of whom had fled war torn homelands, the sense of harmony felt very new, trust is a big factor to consider when helping new migrants settle into a community and it is events like Harmony Day that help.
