Parkabike Junk Art
A series of workshops were held in three schools in the Mid Murray region with well known local junk artist Stephen Oatway.
Two workshops were during Youth Week in early April, at Keyneton and Cambrai schools, and the final one in early May, at Mannum Community College.
The set task of the College senior students was to create a collaborative bike rack for installation at the Mannum Skate Park. They came up with the design guided by Steve, who then assembled the work at his studio. (Image 1)
Students were also invited to construct individual pieces and shown are Sophie and Tyler with Sophies’ Fat Cat. (Image 2)
The workshops were funded by a combination of a Youth Week grant, the Mid Murray Youth Development and Arts and Cultural Development teams.
